BOSTON TOWNSHIP

ROAD DEPARTMENT: Our thanks to Tim Tesmer and Doug Mayer for the wonderful job they did clearing our roads during the last snow storm. The township roads were some of the best maintained in the area. Trustee Amy was invited on a ride along for the Sunday clean-up. Thanks for the opportunity. You may have noticed less salt being used over the past month. Salt supplies are low and we are conserving.

FEDERAL GRANT REQUEST: The trustees have been asked to support the efforts of the Summit County Engineer’s office in obtaining federal funding for a $4,125,000 restoration project on Akron-Peninsula Road from State Route 303 to Bath Road. This grant is similar to the one obtained to resurface Kendall Park Road. The request is being made through the office of Senator Voinovich through an Energy and Water Appropriations bill. The portion of Akron-Peninsula in the township is maintained by the county and our support will not be financial.

CUYAHOGA VALLEY COMMUNITIES COUNCIL: Trustee Anderson accepted a position on the Board of Trustees of the Cuyahoga Valley Communities Council. Marty Griffith will represent the township as an alternate member.

RACE POLICY: The trustees will be working with appropriate Summit County agencies and the prosecutor’s office to set a policy for foot and bike races in the township. Rarely are we notified that these are taking place and most recently we were given a two week notice that one was scheduled on Quick Road. Trustee Ritch is suggesting a sixty day notice that would give us ample time to warn our residents of delays or road closures. With the frequency of these races, multiple races could be scheduled on the same date and we would not know about it.

ZONING NEWS: The trustees will be interviewing candidates for the open position on the zoning commission. We hope to make the appointment in April.

The Township Trustees meet the second and fourth Wednesday of each month at 7:00 PM at the old township garage next to the Town Hall.

Both zoning commissions meet the fourth Tuesday of each month beginning at 6:30PM (same location).
