BOSTON TOWNSHIP

FINAL BRUSH CHIPPING: The last brush chipping for the season will be the first week of October.

TOWNSHIP LEAF PICK-UP: If you live in the unincorporated part of Boston Township leaf pick-up begins the third week in October and runs through November. Leaves must be raked to the edge of the road, away from mailboxes, or they will not be picked up. Too many people do not put their leaves close enough to the road and we end up raking huge piles to the machine. Raking is difficult when leaves get wet.

SHARE-A-CHRISTMAS: The Trustees will again be sponsoring Share-A-Christmas for our community. Last year we were no long allowed to put a collection box at the Peninsula Post Office and as a result our donations really suffered: community donations were down about 95%. Due to the economy we anticipate helping more people than last year and we really need your help. Collection boxes will be at the Library, Terry Lumber and the Police Department lobby. They should be in place the third week in November. We will continue to search for a drop off location with 24-hour access.

POT LUCK DINNER: We are hoping to have our annual pot luck dinner in the beginning of November. The date has not been finalized and will be announced in the October issue of YCN. If you are reading this paper you are invited. This event will be held at the Township Hall. Please bring a dish to share. Everything else will be provided by the Trustees, including door prizes. This is our way to say thank you to our residents.

ZONING: The Trustees are looking for an alternate member to serve on the Zoning Commission. If you are interested, please call one of the numbers listed below.

LIBRARY SUPPORT: The Trustees (Ritch and Anderson) passed a resolution in support of the Peninsula Library foundation endowment campaign. Trustee Bergdorf abstained from this vote due to his employment at the Library.

ROAD DEPARTMENT: At a chance encounter, Trustee Ritch was asked by a member of Peninsula’s council to set up a meeting to discuss the possibility of combining or contracting road department services. Trustee Ritch said the Township would be interested in discussing these issues and said to call to set up a meeting. As of the last Trustee meeting on September 10 no meeting has transpired or been requested.

The Township Trustees meet the second and fourth Wednesday of each month at 7:00 PM at the old township garage next to the Town Hall.

The zoning commission meets the second Tuesday of each month and the board of zoning appeals meets the fourth Tuesday of each month beginning at 6:30PM (same location).

Contact numbers for the trustees: Amy Anderson: 330-657-2439, Randy Bergdorf: 330-655-5698, and Jerry Ritch: 330-657-2015.
