PENINSULA COUNCIL

The Village Council met in regular session on May 14, 2012. The Boston Township Trustees attended the meeting for a joint session with the Village Council. Items of a mutual concern, including the Cemetery, were discussed. Both the Council and the Trustees agreed to support the current funding for the Cemetery. The Mayor talked about the need for work on the guardrails on the Route 303 Bridge. More estimates will be obtained and the budget will be looked at to determine when the Village will be able to do the work. Council established a committee to establish the qualifications and the guidelines for hiring a new Chief of Police. The Council accepted the resignation of Officer John Petrovich as a full time Police Officer of the Village. The Council thanked him for his years of dedicated service. Councilperson Mary Booth set up a meeting for the Buildings and Grounds Committee to go over some issues with the Players Barn. The meeting will be held on Monday, May 21st at 7 at the Village Hall. Councilperson Dee Holody shared with the other members a proposal for a digital parking pay station in the Village. There would not be any parking meters and the residents could be exempt from paying. Council will review the information and discuss it at future meetings.

There will be a hearing at the Board of Zoning Appeals meeting on June 14th to consider a variance application for the construction of a garage forward on the property located at 1503 Dell Road. All interested parties will be afforded a reasonable opportunity to speak.

The Mayor would like to announce that the Village’s chipper has been repaired. Please see a separate article regarding this service.
