WHO WOULD BELIEVE?

Signs in nature tell us of the coming of spring 2013. It is about two thousand years since the first Holy Week with Holy Thursday, Good Friday and ending with what to some was the end. For believers and non-believers it was not an ending but the fulfillment of a promise given at the very beginning of humanity’s foolishness. Our knowing better and our being selfish and self-centered established what could be termed a “happy fault.” Faith is a gift not earned but freely given to any and all. It is the lens that is used to see and embrace the meaning of what is prepared for during what is termed Lent, a sacred time set aside in preparation for the ascent to Easter. On a Wednesday, weeks ago many felt called to gather to hear scripture, pray and be marked with ashes and in their hearing, the admonition, “repent and be faithful to the Gospel.” Understanding this is like being able to read the signs in nature or better the signs of the times. It is possible if there is a willingness to be open to the Good News that has been handed down from one generation to the next. Like the coming of spring, it is ever new. It is the meaning of Easter. It is new life. It is the seeing that all will be new. It is the future already present. Please consider joining with the members of Mother of Sorrows Parish in Peninsula to celebrate or ponder this Good News. All are invited and most welcome! You will find information on our Palm Passion Sunday of the Lord, Holy Week, Holy Thursday, Good Friday, Easter Vigil, Easter Sunday worship services, times and more at www.motherofsorrowspeninsula.org or call 330-657-2631.

Easter Blessings!
