Attention Downton Abbey fans! You are cordially invited to join the ladies of “Downton Manor” (the G.A.R. Hall) for High Tea on Saturday, May 11 at 1:30pm. Please join us on Saturday, May 18, 2013 (Armed Forces Day) as we recognize our local War of 1812 veterans buried in Peninsula and Boston Township. The ceremony will be at Cedar Grove Cemetery at 11:30am. The William Wetmore Chapter of the Daughters of 1812 will lead the ceremony. Visit www.peninsulahistory.org/1812dedication for the list of 1812 soldiers from Peninsula and Boston Township that will be honored.

There will also be a special War of 1812 lecture, The War of 1812 in Summit County on Thursday, May 9 at the G.A.R. Hall at 7:00pm. Free admission and refreshments!

The Civil War Lecture Series returns for its third season! Join us on Thursday, April 25 at the G.A.R. Hall at 7:00pm when John Fazio presents Intrepid Mariners: The USS Kearsarge & CSS Alabama, a compelling human interest story about two friends that were forced to fight to the death on the open seas. Admission is free!
