FIVE SACRED PLACES
We are fortunate to have not one but five cemeteries in our community. Cedar Grove Cemetery even holds a memorial to recognize the solders of the Civil. The monument used to be at the intersection of Route 303 and Riverview Road. The other cemeteries are Boston, Boston Heights (next to the Boston Heights Village Hall), Ira Cemetery (near Old Trail School and Hale Farm) and Mater Dolorosa Cemetery (on Route 303 next to Happy Days Visitor Center). Each cemetery holds a special place in the heart of those who have someone buried there. They are also places where we recall the story of our community through the headstones, memorials, and monuments placed there in honor and memory of the beloved dead buried there. More than on Memorial Day there are visits to these sacred places to honor, to remember and to show respect to those who gone before us. In July these thoughts are shared, in the fullness and beauty of summer. It is a time of year for trips to special places. Why not to one of our "sacred places" to remember and show respect to those who made our community the special place it is? Eternal rest grant unto them. Amen.
