The township minutes are posted on our website at www.bostontownship.org and outside the fiscal office at the Boston Township Hall. Trustee meetings are the second and fourth Wednesday of the month. Zoning commission meets the second Tuesday of the month and the Board of Zoning Appeals meets the fourth Wednesday of the month.
Thank you, Jerry Ritch!: Trustees Amy Anderson and Randy Bergdorf would like to thank Jerry Ritch for his twelve years of service to the township as a trustee. We greatly appreciated the opportunity to work with him and wish him the best in the future.
Road Department: The trustees thanked Road Superintendent Ron Adams for his handling of the season`s first snow event. Special mention was also extended to the Peninsula Village Road Department for much appreciated assistance.
Zoning Updates: The Zoning Commission continues to work with Mark Majewski of Northstar Planning regarding text amendments to the Business Corridor. Currently under discussion are changes to the zoning text regarding properties in the area of Seasons Road. In order to give applicant EBS Construction, LLC more time to properly prepare a site plan regarding the property at 5079 Akron-Cleveland Road, the BZA issued a continuance until the January 23, 2018 meeting. At a hearing held on November 28, the trustees voted to approve two minor changes to the township`s zoning ordinance. The township is in the process of reviewing the chart of zoning fees. Comparisons are being made to surrounding communities. The trustees are still looking for one alternate person for each of the two zoning boards. In addition to helping to provide a quorum, the alternates can gain knowledge of the zoning process in preparation for a full appointment should an opening arise. If anyone is interested in discussing a position as an alternate to one of the zoning boards, please contact one of the trustees.
Trash Contract: The trustees did not receive any bids for the trash contract, which is set to expire at the end of January. The bidding process will be repeated with legal ads in The Plain Dealer.
Opioid Lawsuit: The trustees voted to be named additional plaintiffs in the suit brought by Summit County against certain opioid manufacturers.
Mini Tree Thank You: For the third year, the trustees have sponsored a mini tree in the display held at the Peninsula Library. This year`s theme, "A Nightmare Before Christmas," was greatly enhanced by the artistic efforts of Melissa Mitchell who hand-painted the ornaments.
REMEMBERING: John Lahoski: December 19, 2005.
