As we express our gratitude,
we must never forget
that the highest appreciation
is not to utter words,
but to live by them.

BOSTON TOWNSHIP

The township minutes are posted on our website at www.bostontownship.org and outside the fiscal office at the Boston Township Hall. Trustee meetings are the second and fourth Wednesday of the month. Zoning commission meets the second Tuesday of the month and the Board of Zoning Appeals meets the fourth Wednesday of the month.

Condolences: The trustees expressed condolences to the family of Bob Schneider. The Schneiders have long been involved in many aspects of the community. Two family members are currently serving the township with Pam serving as Zoning Secretary and Dan serving as assistant to the Road Superintendent and as acting Zoning Inspector.

Thank you!: The township trustees extended a thank you to Mary Booth for her service to the community. Mary served on Peninsula Village Council for many years, resigning at the April council meeting.

Road Department: The village and the township road department personnel continue to collaborate on road projects while working out of the township road garage. Village council is reviewing their needs and goals as talks continue for road department collaboration. At the meeting held on May 8, the trustees requested that the Summit County Engineer review lowering the speed limit on Boston Mills Road from Riverview Road to Hines Hill Road from 35 to 25 mph. There has been, and there will continue to be, much more pedestrian traffic than in the past.

Zoning Updates: The Zoning Commission continues to work with Mark Majewski of NorthStar Planning regarding text amendments to the Business Corridor. The most recent draft will be reviewed by the Summit County Planning Commission at a hearing scheduled for May 30. After that review, hearings can be scheduled for both the Zoning Commission and the Boston Township Trustees to review the revisions and receive public comment. At the meeting held May 8, Board of Zoning Appeals member David Calaway was reappointed to a five—year term expiring June 3, 2023.

Memorial Day: Before you leave the Boston Township grounds to head to Cedar Grove Cemetery for Peninsula`s Memorial Day parade, please take notice of the freshly painted interior of the road garage and of the township`s new fuel tanks. Also, please remember to visit the Boston Cemetery on Memorial Day. A parade will start about 12:30 and leave from the former Boston Church. Veterans in Boston Cemetery are also deserving of remembrance.

Garage Sale: The township will be having a Garage Sale on Saturday, July 6 from 10 to 4. The sale will consist mainly of items left to the township from the estate of Jeanette Fakolt.
