BOSTON TOWNSHIP
PUBLIC HEARING: A public hearing was held on June 12, 2013 regarding the proposed JEDD with Peninsula. The Trustees thanked Mayor Douglas Mayer for attending the hearing. Following the hearing and in regular session the Trustees voted to accept the JEDD agreement with Peninsula.
ZONING: There are still alternate positions available for both zoning boards. Please contact one of the Trustees if you are interested. The Trustees reappointed Joe Orahoske to the Board of Zoning Appeals. The term expires June 3, 2018.
MEMORIAL DAY THANKS: The Trustees thanked Patty Tesmer for once again coordinating the event. Our Road Department employees did a wonderful job making sure everything on our corner looked great. Thanks to the Cornerstone Church for providing food and beverages before the march to the Boston Cemetery.
THANK YOU: Special thanks to Doug Mayer for coordinating a Community Pot Luck the Sunday before Memorial Day. We hope this becomes an annual event.
CONGRATULATIONS: Congratulations to Valley Fire District Lieutenant Nick Zamiska. Nick is a full-time member of the Brecksville Fire Department and was recently promoted to a Lieutenant on their department.
J&J LARGE RECYCLE CONTAINERS: By now Township residents should have received the new larger recycle containers. Our thanks to Joanne Noragon and her grandchildren for sending out the information letter to all Township households regarding this service.
HAZARDOUS WASTE RECYCLING: The hazardous waste recycling center located at 1201 Graham Road will be open Thursdays from June 6 to September 26 from 2:00PM until 8:00PM. For more information go to Summitreworks.com.

PENINSULA COUNCIL
The Village Council met in regular session on June 10, 2013. The meeting was preceded by a Public Hearing concerning the proposed JEDD agreement with Boston Township. Several residents were in attendance to hear about the details of the proposal. When the regular meeting commenced, Council then agreed to enter into the agreement. Council also agreed to renew the contract with Wichert Insurance for a renewal of the Village's property and liability insurance. The Mayor announced the resignation of Chuck Hemming as the Village Zoning Inspector. He hopes to have a candidate to replace him at the next meeting. He also reminded everyone of the change of dates for the Planning Commission meetings. Starting in July 2013, they will be on the third Monday of every month rather than the second Tuesday following the Council meetings. Council also approved to place an increase of the Village income tax on the November ballot. The Parking Station proposal was discussed in length with several of those in attendance, but no action was taken.
Brush pickup continues the first Monday of each month through October.
The Village is looking for a part time worker for the Service Department. The rate of pay is $12.00 per hours and would entail approximately 24 hours per week. Anyone interested in the position can pick up an application at the Village Hall during regular business hours or they can send their resume

chosen to mark our heritage, whether it is picnics, fireworks or parades, may it also include moments of reflection and affirmation of the ideal given to us in our pledge of allegiance to the Red, White and Blue. Is not the ideal of each citizen: liberty and justice bound together as our destiny? Is this not the hope of the past, the present, and the future of every citizen? Justice is the way to peace. Liberty is the basis of a freedom for every individual and their inalienable rights.

Former Village resident Kenneth A. Conger passed away May 19, 2013. He had been living in Gibsonia, Pennsylvania at the time of his death. Mr. Conger is survived by his wife Sylvia and son Kenneth D. Conger.

There is good news on the restoration front. Ronda Russell, proprietor of the Downtown Emporium, had a birthday recently which was celebrated by neighbors and friends who gave her a gift which was very dear to her. Instead of package gifts, they all gave toward the proposed slate roof on the old school house and reached the amount needed. The goal has been met and the new slate roof will soon be in place. Old slates will be available as souvenirs. . . .
Jordan Wessel, an accomplished pianist, will be graduating soon, and available to provide sing - along music for children's parties. Those of Polish heritage might be interested in a new shop in Richfield. It is on route 21, south of the village, at 2421 North Cleveland Massillon Rd. It features beautifully made folk pottery.
