BOSTON TOWNSHIP

The Boston Township minutes are posted on our website at www.bostontownship.organd outside the office of the Fiscal Officer in the Boston Township Hall. Our meetings are not currently being covered by The West Side Leader. Additionally, The West Side Leader did not cover Boston Township candidates or issues for the recent election.

Apologies: The wrong file was submitted to YCN for October. We apologize for the error.

Zoning Update: At the meeting on October 8, the trustees appointed Maureen Downey to the vacant seat on the Zoning Commission. Thank you, Maureen, for agreeing to serve! Also, until further notice, the Zoning Commission will be having a work session at 5:30PM, prior to their regular meeting, on the second Tuesdays of each month.

Police Levy: The Boston Township Police Levy, Issue #46 on the November 4 ballot, passed by a narrow margin. Originally passed in 1996 and renewed six times, this levy will raise $177,867 per year for five years to help cover the cost of the contract with the Peninsula Police. This levy is a renewal of the original 7 mills with an increase of 1/2 mill. For a benchmark, the owner of a $100,000 home will pay $170 per year for this levy.

Trash Contract Extension: The trustees approved extending the current trash contract with Kimble through January 2029. The renewal rates for unlimited trash pickup using the provided refuse and recycling carts will be
  2026--$25.85 per month
  2027--$26.99 per month
  2028--$28.35 per month
For those residents who generate less trash and use the bag system in tandem with a recycling container the rates will be:
  2026--$6.27 per bag
  2027--$6.58 per bag
  2028--$6.91 per bag

Road Department: Brush pick-up has ended for this year. During November and extending through early December, the road department will be vacuuming up leaves as they begin to fall. Leaves should be piled off the road pavement and should not include branches or other debris. Also, speedy recovery wishes are extended to Road Superintendent Dave Krusinski.

Change in Meeting Schedule: The trustees meet on the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month. Because the fourth Wednesday in December is Christmas Eve, there will be only one meeting for the month on December 10.
